Buyer Beware of Nu Wave 6qt Air Fryer

Bought this Air Fryer as a replacement for another brand. The concept of air frying is amazing and you will be very happy with the results. BUT and it is a MAJOR ISSUE for me is the unit fry basket began peeling the coating on the inside of the basket. It was mixed in with food as well. Where the coating has peeled and exposed metal it has now begun rusting. I reached out to Customer Service and this is the response (below) I got: (I cannot recommend a product that is unusable after eight weeks AND they won't stand behind it...I will try to add a photo later that better shows the issues)

Thank you for reaching out to us. Unfortunately, coating is not covered under warranty. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. You can use foil on the base tray and secure it to prevent additional peeling.

Bought this in September and by December it no longer ...

Bought this in September and by December it no longer works and it was not used in large frequency. The tray/door keeps saying open when it is completely shut. Unplugged and plugged back in and still not resolved. Contacted NuWave to see if they had a fix / resolution for this and since I purchased it on Amazon they will not provide any support or ways to fix the item.

If anyone has a Nuwave Brio Air Fryer... be careful. I bought one in early January. I actually wouldn't have noticed it if I didn't accidentally touch it. It was very hot! The wires have burned through the plastic shell. I've sent an email to the company but I really don't expect a response. If you have one, at least don't keep it plugged in. I doubt I'll get my money back. Please share this if you know someone that might have one. Robin, I bought one after seeing yours.

Fry or Bake, Half the Wait

I was quite surprised by this little machine. I bought a Big Boss Air Fryer earlier in the week and was very disappointed. I told myself if the NuWave didn't wow me I'd give up on the air fry craze all together. Out of the box I plugged it in and tried a simple meal for the kids- nuggets and tater tots. It was ready in 12. Minutes and perfectly crispy like fast food. The real wow moment came from the chicken wings I made for my husband. I didn't add any flour breading, just a bit of Cajun seasoning. I set the time for 20 minutes and when I removed the basket I saw perfect crispy wings. The NuWave was able to cook them all the way around without me having to flip them over half way. If I had to mention a down side it would be having to make smaller batches. I can certainly deal with that since I was able to make perfect wings without oil.

DEFECTIVE NUWAVE BRIO DIGITAL 6QT AIR FRYER

Received a Nuwave Brio Air Fryer 6 qt as a gift....It cooks very well and I would use it quite often to cut down on frying with grease. However, after using it one time the Base tray button did not release the Fry Pan Basket because it was stuck....Instead of returning the Air Fryer, It was exchanged for another one....I thought the first one was just defective. However, after receiving the 2nd replacement Nuwave Brio, the same problem occurred. The Fry pan basket would not release from the Base tray. Therefore, this is obviously a defect in the manufacturing style of the product....so now, I have a defective NUWAVE BRIO 6QT AIR FRYER that is defective....due to the manufacturing process. Which is too bad because I like the way the Air Fryer cooks. Have to rate it as 1 due to the manufacturing defect...The unit is New and the same problem occurred with 2 units.

as one can see.from the photo...the Nuwave cooks very well..I cooked a turkey breastfeeding which turned out beautifully...however, with defective basket, it is hard to clean the basket and fry pan....

Update; 8-19-17....Food gets stuck at the bottom if base tray even when the bottom is sprayed with oil...bottom should have been made "non-stick....the basket is starting to peel inside cooking basket within only about 4 months...not healthy since i don't know what chemicals are underneath the lining that has peeled off..Photo attached of the peeling basket....This is the 3rd Nuwave Air Fryer because of product defects....if not for defects it cooks food well except food sticks to bottom.

Product lasted less than a year...

I bought this on February 16th 2017. It died January 20th 2018. I used it about once a week. I was happy with the performance, but now it is a paperweight. I have a different air fryer that is still working 2 years later.
I guess I should have gotten another one of those. Welcome to the age of disposable appliances.
