Use Hawaij as you would apple pie spice or pumpkin. Add Sweet Hawaij to coffee, which is very traditional. Switch up your regular afternoon Chai Latte, add Hawaij!
SERVING SUGGESTIONS : Add Savory Hawaij with the onions and celery when making chicken soup; sprinkle on carrots before roasting; rub into steaks before searing. Delicioius sprinkled on chicken or pork before grilling!
Ingredients
Sweet Hawaij
- 2 tbsp Ground cardamom
- 1 tbsp Ground ginger
- 1 tsp Ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp Ground cloves
- 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
Savory Hawaij
- 3 tbsp Ground black pepper
- 3 tbsp Ground cumin
- 3 tbsp Ground turmeric
- 1 tbsp Ground cardamom
- 2 tbsp Kosher salt
- 2 tsp Ground sumac
Instructions
Sweet Hawaij
- Mix spices in bowl. Store in cool, dark place for up to 3 months.
Warm Hawaij, Ground Spice Instruction
- Whisk together in a bowl. Store in air tight container in a dark place for up to 3 months.
